science-o-rama!

science-o-rama! is a science fair, or science project display, organized by your school and held at a location, date and time that you determine.

science-o-rama! may be an existing science fair or display, or a new one that is beginning this year. It can be as small as one class, or involve the entire school.

To assist teachers in holding a science-o-rama!, The Synopsys Outreach Foundation will provide a Science Project Grant to teachers in schools adopted by Synopsys Field Offices. The Grant includes a monetary grant to the school as well as materials to help you and your students prepare for your science-o-rama!

Expectations for Teachers

  • Name, or rename your school's science fair to "Synopsys Outreach Foundation science-o-rama!"
  • Indicate that your science-o-rama! is sponsored by The Synopsys Outreach Foundation.
  • Provide direction, guidance and assistance, on an ongoing basis, to students entering projects in science-o-rama!.
  • Work with other teachers at your school participating in the Science Grant Program to select a SCHOOL CAPTAIN who will order science-o-rama! materials.

Key Provisions of a Science Project Grant

  • A cash grant, based on the number of students preparing science projects. This portion of the Science Project Grant is payable by check to your school or school district to be used for each teacher preparing students for science-o-rama!. The Grant is to be used specifically for science-o-rama! or generally for science related activities, including but not limited to:

    • Teacher sub-pay for the day of the science-o-rama!
    • Materials and equipment for science projects
  • Materials DONATED to your school to enhance your science-o-rama!, including:

    • Project Poster Boards (for each student)
    • science-o-rama! posters (10 per school)
    • science-o-rama! adhesive stickers (3" round)
    • "I Did It!" science-o-rama! participant ribbons (one for each student)
    • Rosette place ribbons (three each of first, second, and third place)
    • Certificates of Participation (with a blank space for student name)
    • Balloon Arch (assembled, 20 ft. long, delivered on the day of your science-o-rama!)
  • NOTE: To order these materials, each participating school will be contacted shortly after October 1 and asked to identify a SCHOOL CAPTAIN to serve as a point of contact.

The SCHOOL CAPTAIN will be asked to submit ONE request for science-o-rama! materials, on behalf of all the teachers participating in the Science Project Grant Program at your school.
